Embrace Boldness: What "Bold" Means to Me in 2025

As I enter 2025, I’ve chosen one word to guide my year: bold. But not the kind of bold where I suddenly wear neon clothes and take up skydiving (though I’m not ruling it out entirely). I mean the kind of bold that’s about showing up fully for myself, trusting my instincts, and stepping into my purpose without second-guessing myself. The kind of bold that leaves no room for people pleasing. Yeehaw 🤠

When I first started teaching yoga, I tried everything. I was experimenting with different classes, trying to figure out who I was as a teacher. It has been a creative, messy and exciting process. So much trial and error—frequently teaching overly complicated sequences, only to end up tangled up and embarrassed. My yogis have been genuinely kind, and I learned an important lesson: simplicity and consistency are what seems to connect with people.

Through all the experimenting, I realised that what excites me most is helping people who are committed to developing their yoga practice. It’s not about age, level, or specific demographics. It’s about working with individuals who are willing to show up, stay consistent, and grow with their practice.

That’s why I favour membership-based yoga . This model helps me build real relationships with students, understand their goals, and guide them in a way that drop-in classes just can’t. When I know a person’s story, I can help them more effectively. It’s about consistency—both for my students and for me—and creating a community where we grow together.

This year, bold means pursuing my own growth, too. In February, I’ll be heading to India for a 10-day yoga immersion. It’s an opportunity to deepen my own practice and learn in a space that I’ve always dreamed of. I’m also training to become a meditation teacher, diving into the philosophy and practices that have always fascinated me. I’m excited, maybe a little nervous, but I know it’s the right direction. What’s for me won’t pass me by.

What’s Your Word for 2025?

Choosing a word for the year can be a powerful way to focus your intentions and goals. It’s not about getting it “right”—it’s about finding something that feels aligned with where you are and where you want to go.

Here are some prompts to help you discover your word:

  1. What’s something you want to invite more of into your life this year? For me, it’s boldness, trusting my own instincts even if that means losing people along the way.
  2. What qualities would help you face your biggest challenges? Maybe you need patience, resilience, or clarity.
  3. What does your future self look like? Picture your ideal self a year from now. What traits do they have?

Once you have your word, keep it in mind throughout the year. Let it guide your decisions, your actions, and your mindset. Think of it as your personal mantra, reminding you of what matters most.

For me, bold is about trusting the process, stepping into opportunities, and going after what excites me unapologetically. Whether it’s through yoga, meditation, or building community, I’m ready to go after it this year.

Now it’s your turn—what’s your word for 2025? Share it in the comments or take a moment to reflect. I’d love to hear what’s inspiring y
