Gift-Collector

Once upon a time, in a little town not so different from our own, there lived a person, let's call them "Gift-Collector." Gift-Collector had a peculiar habit – they hoarded presents. They cherished every thoughtful gift they received, from exquisite fountain pen ink to fragrant bath salts and perfumes.
Gift-Collector believed that these precious gifts were meant for something extraordinary, something truly special. They were waiting for that perfect, almost mythical, occasion to arrive. The fountain pen ink would be used to write the most significant letter ever. The bath salts would be sprinkled in a bath so opulent they would be fit for royalty . And the perfume, well, that would be reserved for a day when they'd shine brighter than the stars.
As the years went by, Gift-Collector amassed a treasure trove of unused presents. These treasures were locked away in a special cabinet, gathering dust and fading away. Yet, they were never quite special enough to be put to use. Gift-Collector's home began to resemble a museum, with rooms untouched and corners filled with unopened boxes. It was a place where everything was being saved for "best."
But one day, a wise old friend, who understood the beauty of an abundance mindset, paid a visit. This friend had a different perspective on life's treasures. They saw gifts as opportunities to celebrate the present, not hoard for a distant future.
With a gentle smile, the wise friend said, "Gift-Collector, the true gift is not in the object itself, but in the love and thoughtfulness behind it. The essence of abundance lies in the joy of experiencing and sharing these treasures now, not waiting for a tomorrow that may never come."
Gift-Collector hesitated, but the wisdom in their friend's words sank in. They decided to open the cabinet, dust off the treasures, and embrace the abundance of the present moment.
They used the fountain pen ink to write letters to friends, expressing their love and appreciation. The bath salts were poured into the sparkling bath for a rejuvenating soak that brought a sense of serenity to everyday life. And the perfume was worn for ordinary days, making each moment feel special.
As Gift-Collector savoured the experiences and shared their treasures with others, something magical happened. The fear of scarcity melted away, replaced by the trust that the universe would continue to bring gifts and abundance into their life.
So, let's reflect on the story of Gift-Collector. Let's remember that abundance isn't about hoarding for the future but about embracing the gifts and opportunities of the present. When we let go of the scarcity mindset, we open ourselves to the abundance that surrounds us, both in the material world and within our hearts.
Do you know anyone like the Gift-Collector? What’s your version of a scarcity mindset?
