Spotlight On........
Jordanna Campbell | JUN 25, 2024
This months spotlight it on an extremely articulate, travel loving, super stylish yogi whose wardrobe you'd love to raid.
Name: Liz Stacey
Age: 63
Occupation: Retired

How do you know Jordanna?
I used to attend Jordanna’s Zumba class over 10 years ago
Which of her classes do you go to and how long have you been going to her classes?
I go to the 6:15 UMH class and have been going for over 2 years.
Introduction: Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how you got into yoga?
I am relatively fit but have never been into the gym and I was looking for a gentle form of exercise and my friend Amanda recommended Jordanna's class
Yoga Journey: What motivated you to start practicing yoga?
I had been suffering with hip pain since retiring and spending more time walking my dog and hoped that the stretching would help that (which it has!)
How has yoga positively impacted your life?
Although I do still have some aches and pains I think that yoga keeps them to a minimum
Do you have a favourite yoga pose or sequence? Why?
No real favourites but I find squatting a blessed relief sometimes!
Least favourite yoga pose? Why?
Anything that involves standing on one leg because I have poor balance due to horrible bunions!
Off the Mat: Aside from yoga, what are your other interests or hobbies?
I also enjoy gardening and have found stretching can help reduce the effects of bending and kneeling.
Mind-Body Connection: How does yoga influence your mental and emotional well-being?
I find that I always feel calmer and more positive and focused after yoga
Have you noticed any changes in your mindset since starting yoga?
I find that I am more able to consider the positives and accept the negatives that are out of my control!
Community Involvement: Are there any community events or activities that you particularly enjoy?
Being part of the yoga community has also introduced me to outdoor swimming but I am only a summer swimmer although I have been a winter cheerleader!
Advice for Others: What advice would you give to someone who is just starting their yoga journey?
It is Jordanna's advice but remember yoga is not a competition except with yourself. Set your own goals and see how you improve towards them with practice and take joy from those improvements.
Community Connection: Are there any yoga-related events or workshops that you recommend to fellow practitioners?
I am looking forward to the yoga festival in June and am happy to give my feedback after!!
Future Goals: Do you have any specific goals or aspirations related to your yoga practice?
I would just like to be able to stand on one leg for the duration of a flow!
How do you see your yoga journey evolving in the future?
I aim to be practising yoga well into my nineties if possible!!
