I am really enjoying our journey through the Chakras in our yoga classes at the moment.

This week, we arrive at the our Vishuddha or throat Chakra, the Chakra associated with self-expression and authentic communication. The collision of Vishuddha and writing this weeks blog has been a revelation that I will do my best to articulate.

I think my throat Chakra is blocked. So many words that I want to use are stuck in my throat, choking, embarrassing and mocking me.

As I delve into the study of Chakras, with a special focus on the energies of Vishuddha, I've begun to realise the challenges I encounter as a yoga teacher when trying to convey the essence of transformation and inner work. This revelation prompts further exploration—a recognition that expressing the profound teachings of yoga amid the noise of marketing jargon is akin to navigating a field of buzzwords with grace.

I feel caught in a linguistic labyrinth. As a yoga teacher dedicated to growth and genuine metamorphosis, I find myself tiptoeing around words that feel sullied by overzealous marketing gurus. The likes of comedian Bill Hicks described sales and marketers as 'devil's salesmen,' and this resonates even more profoundly as I connect it with the subtleties of balancing my Vishuddha chakra.

Every attempt to share the depth and sincerity of transformative practices feels like a delicate dance on the tightrope over a pit of cynicism. The word 'transformation,' once a serene stroll through the garden of self-discovery, now echoes with the challenge of avoiding a marketing pitfall. It's as if Vishuddha itself has undergone a marketing bender, leaving its genuine essence tattooed with the regrettable marks of overuse.

In the pursuit of authenticity, I've found myself avoiding phrases like 'jump in' or 'take a deep dive.' It's ironic how these once innocent invitations to explore one's inner self now feel horribly shallow. It's like promising a plunge into the abyss and ending up in a paddling pool with a rubber duck.

The infamous marketing phrase 'exclusive discount' raises eyebrows in a world drowning in promises of exclusivity. It's become the trust equivalent of a suspiciously silent yoga studio – too exclusive to be inclusive. Offering an 'exclusive discount' feels like attempting to sell inner peace on a Black Friday deal, thick with cynicism, irony and scepticism.

As a yoga teacher navigating this linguistic minefield, Vishuddha's teachings become even more poignant. This week's focus on the Throat Chakra underscores the challenge of finding authentic expressions that resonate with both seekers and sceptics alike. The study of Chakras serves as a compass, guiding me to dust off the thesaurus and embark on a linguistic adventure that transcends the trappings of marketing jargon—one deep breath at a time.
