The Yogi Times - August Edition

Jordanna Campbell | AUG 10, 2022

What a summer!

It's not often I'm happy to be stuck in the UK without a sniff of an adventure; a green-eyed Facebook bystander for everyone else's fabulous travels. But if ever there was a year to be stuck, this is it.

There's so much to tell you!

'ABBEY 1000' Yoga

'Abbey 1000' Yoga in the ruins is surpassing all my expectations and they weren't exactly low to begin with. More than 190 people registered to take part. 50 people turned up to the first session despite the rain and around 80 at the second.

Just before the first session began I was sheltering from the rain under a tree talking to my husband on the phone. He was reassuring me that - according to a weather website - there was only a 3% chance of rain! Some people thought they were attending a slip and slide party.

I think the most wonderful thing about these sessions is that it has brought so many of us together, giving us a chance to celebrate nature, the beautiful and historical abbey ruins and remind us what an incredible place we live in.

New class: Dance Party Moves

When: Monthly on Fridays

Where: The Unitarian Meeting House

What: Make fitness fun - we learn the moves to a well-known classic pop/dance anthem and then we perform the dance

Time: 6:30 – 8:30

Cost: £6

Friday’s Party Nights combine a little fitness, friends, and a lot of fun. Come along to the Unitarian Meeting House and learn a sequence of easy dance moves. Once we have nailed the moves, we’ll put them together to become the moves to a famous and popular song. Just like being in your favourite pop video! The song will be a surprise each month.

We will be visiting different eras, and partying to a new tune every month. Requests may even be considered.

Filled with energy, adrenaline and laughter, there will be the opportunity to stay around afterwards to chat, have a drink (bring your own) or leave as the mood takes you.

These events are more about having fun and creating a regular opportunity for people to dance, socialise, and let their hair down – and get fitter as a nice by-product.

Everyone is welcome. Bring ALL your friends. This really is a case of the more the merrier.

Your Opinion

I would like to set up a new beginner yoga class in Bury either on a Thursday night at 7:30 - 8:30 pm, or on a Wednesday from 5-6pm. They would work the same as most of my other classes (six week blocks £45).

Please email me and let me know:

  • if you are interested in an evening beginner class in town?
  • Which time could you do?

Newsletters

And finally.........

If you aren't interested in being kept up to date about future events please let me know and I will remove your from the mailing list.

I'm looking forward to seeing you at class or event soon. And even if I'm not going to see you again, thank you for attending a yoga class in the Abbey Gardens.

Love

Jordanna
