The Yogi Times - July Edition

Jordanna Campbell | JUL 14, 2022

Hello, I hope you are all enjoying the fantastically un-British weather we've been having. I am. It almost makes me glad that I'm not going on an exotic holiday to an unknown destination filled with adventure and the possibility of new experiences. Ahem.

Well, seeing as I AM here, I am filling my cup with lots of yoga and dance-related events that I am really looking forward to.

Barrow Park Yoga

Yoga in Barrow Park has exceeded all my expectations. It started off with an amazingly well attended Summer Solstice practice which was so lovely that I decided to carry it on every Tuesday since. Unbelievably, not one session has been rained off...........yet!

Thank you so much to all of you who have been showing up and making it such a lovely shared experience.

Some of you already know that I am looking to teach a regular evening class in Barrow. At the moment the Village Hall has no availability and I'm waiting to hear from the school. More details as soon as I have any.

We have one more Tuesday session in Barrow on Tuesday 19th before going to the Abbey Gardens for five weeks.

'ABBEY 1000' Celebrations

Part of the Abbey 1000 celebrations, these evening sessions offer a unique opportunity to take part in a yoga practice in the ruins of the Abbey.

Many of you have already registered for this event. Thank you. It's lovely to know in advance that it's not just going to be me, an empty field and any one of my three children that I've bribed to come along just in case. If you haven't already registered follow the link - https://jordannaoffersyoga.offeringtree.com/

Each session will have a specific and universally applicable, spiritual focus based on the 5 Yamas from the ancient Yoga teachings. These 5 are:

  • non-harm
  • truthfulness
  • non-stealing
  • moderation or right use of energy
  • non-greed

Participants should bring:

  • A yoga mat if you have one, or a towel or blanket if you don’t have a mat
  • A drink
  • A warm jumper or fleece (just in case).

'Abbey 1000' Celebrations - Family Yoga and Mindfulness

I know! It is the same photo of me doing my yogi squat in the Abbey Gardens as part of the exact same celebration and also sponsored by the Heritage Fund. But come on, attention to detail. Same park, same person, totally different event.

This one is yoga and mindfulness, with the emphasis firmly on mindfulness for children age 10+ , and it's on Thursday's at 2pm starting Thursday 28th July.

If you know anyone you think might be interested please direct them to my website where parents and carers can fill in details on behalf of their children.
