Recently, a friend made a comment about my ability to "reinvent" myself that I can't stop thinking about. While I know she intended it as a compliment, the word "reinvention" sparked immediate internal resistance. Somehow it made me feel shallow.

This conversation unfolded as I shared my plans to embark on a yoga immersion course in India next year and to start to create online yoga courses. It made me start ponder the question: What does it truly mean to reinvent oneself? Is it about discarding old identities and adopting new ones, or is it a deeper process of self-discovery and growth? I've choose to believe it's the latter – a journey of continuous evolution and adaptation and not least because that's what it suits me to believe.

Reinvention is not about superficially changing who we are but rather understanding our path and embracing the natural changes that occur along the way. It's about recognising that life is a journey filled with twists and turns, and our ability to adapt is key to navigating its complexities.

My friend was right. I've experienced many incarnations, revolutions, and reinventions. Once upon a time, I travelled, I taught English as a Foreign Language in far flung places. I trained business people to use their software, then I stayed at home with my children. There were decades of dance and fitness, and there was even a time when I thought yoga was something people who didn’t like exercise did.

Why Now?

Why is this the best time of year to contemplate reinvention? As we transition from the quiet introspection of winter to the vibrant energy of spring, we're reminded of the cyclical nature of life. Spring is a season of renewal and possibility, a time when nature awakens from its slumber and bursts forth with new life.

Likewise, we can use this season of renewal as an opportunity to reflect on our own lives and consider where we want to grow and evolve. The longer days and warmer weather inspire us to step outside our comfort zones and embrace new challenges.

Looking Ahead:

As I look ahead to the coming months, I'm filled with a sense of excitement and anticipation for the changes that lie ahead. I know what seeds I am planting. I am very clear about the current path. I understand what to do now to put in place all that I want to harvest later. Whether it's embarking on a new career path, deepening relationships, or exploring new interests, this is the time for us all to commit to embracing the spirit of reinvention and embracing the possibilities that come with it.

Join me on this journey of reinvention. Take some time to reflect on your own life and consider where you want to grow and evolve. What changes are you yearning to make? What dreams are waiting to be pursued? Share your thoughts and aspirations. Often when we write down, vocalise, or share our thoughts, we help to make them more real.
