💫 Woo-Woo or Wonderful? Let’s Talk Chakras
Jordanna Campbell | OCT 21, 2025
Do you believe in chakras — those swirling centres of energy said to run through the body — or do you think it’s all a heap of mumbo jumbo nonsense?
Are you the kind of person who likes things to be scientifically proven before you believe them? Or do you sometimes just know something feels real — even if you can’t explain why?
I'm no stranger to scepticism; in fact, there’s still a part of my younger most destructive self that just likes kicking things down for the fun of it. So, I totally get why the word 'chakra' might immediately put you off — it can sound a bit mystical or even fluffy or just plain guff. But it’s not the first idea to be dismissed for those reasons. Many concepts once considered nonsense have eventually proven to be true.
🌍 People laughed at the idea of the Earth being round.
🦠 Germs were dismissed long before microscopes existed.
⚡ Electricity was once seen as dark magic.
🧘♀️ Meditation was ridiculed — until brain scans showed it actually changes the structure of the brain.
So maybe the chakras live in that interesting in-between space — where ancient wisdom meets modern curiosity.
Even if you don’t “believe” in them, you might already be feeling them.
When your chest tightens with anxiety — could that be your heart chakra speaking?
When you can’t find your words — maybe your throat chakra needs a little love.
When you feel grounded, clear, and steady — your root chakra is probably happy and humming along.
Think of the chakras not as something to “believe in,” but as a language — a poetic way to understand the relationship between body, mind, and emotion.
Science talks about the nervous system, hormones, and the vagus nerve; yoga talks about prana, flow, and balance. Different languages, perhaps, but both describing the same mysterious aliveness within us.
When energy is flowing freely, we feel connected, creative, and at ease. When it’s blocked, we feel heavy, stuck, or out of alignment. You don’t have to see energy to notice that shift — you feel it.
This is why yoga, meditation, and breathwork can feel so profoundly healing. They help us tune in to those subtle layers — not just muscles and bones, but emotion, intuition, and something deeper that words rarely capture.
Over the coming months, I’ll be exploring the chakras more deeply in a series of Yoga and Sacred Geometry workshops, starting November 9th .
These sessions will blend yoga, breath work, meditation, and a touch of sacred geometry (Artist Liz Cooke will be in charge of this part of the workshops and the cake) — offering a chance to feel the flow of energy in your own body, to see how shapes, symbols, and movement reflect the patterns of the universe within us.
You don’t need to “believe” in anything — just bring your open mind, your breath, and your curiosity. Together, we’ll explore how energy moves, how awareness transforms, and how harmony feels when it’s alive in you.
In the meantime, here are a few reflections to explore in your own practice or journaling:
✨ What makes you feel grounded?
✨ When do you feel most alive or “lit up”?
✨ Where in your body do you tend to hold tension or emotion?
No right or wrong answers — just curiosity.
Because whether you think chakras are woo-woo or wonderful… maybe, just maybe, they’re a bit of both.
